Mitch Miller > Looking east on Interstate 210 at the Sawtooth Complex fire, July 14, 2006. The fuzzy mountains below the smoke and cloud are between 10,000' and 11,500' high.
Mitch Miller > "Modes of Transport". The bicycle in the foreground belonged to a customer at Summit Inn, old Route 66, Cajon Pass. He was the most interesting person we met on the trip, and we were only 2 hours into it. He had biked from Alaska to South America and back, having everything stolen at gunpoint in Columbia. New bike, I guess. The wildfire-smokey sun sets over I-15.
Mitch Miller > What we were escaping. This was suppose to be a shot of the stopped traffic on I-15 south of Baker, CA, but traffic started the moment I started the exposure.
Mitch Miller > "We come in peace. We will not harm you." After a night at the Goldstrike in Jean, NV, we left I-15 for U.S. 93, bound for Missoula, Montana. The is at the junction with Nevada route 375, the Extraterrestrial Highway, in very rural Nevada. Your X file tells you a left turn takes you to Area 51.
Mitch Miller > Cathedral Gorge State Park, Nevada. "Cathedral Gorge is located in a long, narrow valley where erosion has carved dramatic and unique patterns in the soft bentonite clay. Trails abound for exploring the cave-like formations and cathedral-like spires."
Mitch Miller > More of Cathedral Gorge.
Mitch Miller > A wind "cave" in Cathedral Gorge. The walls are decorated with solidified mud flows.
Mitch Miller > Wildfire rages in the Egan Range, northwest of Ely, Nevada, Saturday, July 15.
Mitch Miller > Travelling pals "Bear" and "Wolf" pose with Kat and the rental Highlander. They appeared to enjoy the 4,300 mile drive.
